Policy & Rating System
I’m a writer, so I know how important reviews are to writers — especially indie/self-published writers.
My Review Policy:
- I do not charge for reviews. If I like the sound of your book, I’ll be happy to read and review. If I don’t, I won’t.
- If you like what I do, and would voluntarily like to give something back, you can:
- Purchase any of the books I’ve recommended via the Amazon link in the reviews. We should all be supporting other writers!*
- Assist with website costs for me to keep supporting other writers:
- I will post the review on my website’s Book Reviews Blog, and also on Goodreads. I’m usually not able to post on Amazon due to their strict rules.
- My preferred format to receive books is .mobi so I can easily load onto my Kindle app and read on the go. Anything else will take me longer to convert or to read on my laptop when I have the time.
- I’m open to diving into anything that is FICTION once it sounds good. There are genres I prefer, which are (in order of preference):
- Women’s Fiction (Drama, Comedy, or Family Saga)
- Romance (all sub-genres except PURE erotica. Please have a STORY.)
- Young Adult or New Adult
- Action, Thriller or Mystery
- Fantasy or Science Fiction
- You do not need to warn me of any triggers or give me any assurances. I am not easily offended by controversial topics in books. I am, however, easily offended by BAD WRITING.
- I’m a mood reader, so I can’t promise you when the review will be ready. But I can promise that I am not going to accept a free copy of your book if I don’t have time or I am not interested in it at all. So if you haven’t heard back in 3 weeks after sending me your book, feel free to follow up.
- When I LOVE a book, I LOVE a book, so it’s likely I’ll mention, tag, and post about you and your book ad infinitum. I love writing, I love reading, and I’m here to support other writers like myself!
My Rating System:
I’m a picky reader, and an honest but balanced reviewer. I may be opinionated, but will always be respectful to an author and his/her work. Writing is an artform, and any work of creation takes courage! But I am not going to write a review or list a book on my site that isn’t worth my personal corner of cyberspace, so I will only have 3 stars plus. 1-star and 2-star reviews based on something trivial are the bane of an author’s existence!
This is how I rate the books I read:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – This book changed my life. I would recommend to anyone. I would recommend to EVERYONE. I now feel like a complete failure as a writer. This book will always stay with me.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ – I really enjoyed this book and would be happy to keep reading more by this author. It almost ticked all the boxes for me, but was missing just a little something extra to *really* move my world.
⭐⭐⭐ – I enjoyed this book and would be interested to keep reading more by this author. There were some issues I had with its structure, style or plot, but overall it was an enjoyable read.
NOTE: I will also allow for half-stars if the book fell between two options for me.
